March 12, 2025 – WIFS at Hofstra Business Event
WIFS-LI was invited by Lauren L. Moy, Associate Director-Graduate Business Career Relations at Hofstra University, to assist students in learning and practicing interview and networking techniques in order to prepare for their future positions. WIFS-LI board members Kathleen Reynolds and Stephanie Larkin had an enjoyable evening with the students, both in Mock Interviews as well as a networking workshop and speed networking activity. The students found this experience valuable for their personal and professional development, and WIFS-LI will be working next with the Women in Business Program at Hofstra University on further professional development for the students.
WIFS-LI January, 21 2025 Luncheon
On January 21, the Women in Financial Services (WIFS) community gathered for an unforgettable luncheon at Uncle Bacala’s in Garden City Park. The event brought together passionate professionals, community leaders, and advocates for an afternoon filled with inspiration, networking, and generosity.
The luncheon featured an incredible lineup of guest speakers, each sharing their expertise and dedication to causes that uplift and empower women. Greta Guarton, Executive Director of the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless, shed light on the ongoing efforts to support those in need, emphasizing the importance of collective action in combating homelessness. Starella Arboiun, a dedicated Dress for Success Ambassador, alongside Joy DeDonato, Chair of Dress for Success, inspired attendees with their mission to provide women with the tools and confidence they need to succeed in the workforce.
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, Kate Murray, the Town Clerk from the Town of Hempstead, joined the event to show her support for WIFS. In a special moment, she presented a citation to WIFS, recognizing the organization’s commitment to empowering women and fostering professional growth.
Beyond the inspiring speeches, attendees enjoyed a lively afternoon of fun and philanthropy. Exciting fundraising raffles brought an extra spark to the event, with guests enthusiastically participating to support the meaningful initiatives championed by WIFS and its partner organizations.
The WIFS luncheon was more than just a gathering—it was a powerful reminder of the impact that strong, supportive communities can have. Through networking, shared wisdom, and a commitment to giving back, attendees left feeling motivated to continue making a difference in their fields and beyond.
